A big thank you to all of you (around 150 we think) who attended the public meeting on 10 May 2025, run jointly by the Parish Councils of Deeping Gate and Northborough, in the Northborough and Deeping Gate village hall. People from not just Deeping Gate and Northborough, but Market Deeping, Deeping St James, Peterborough, Maxey and Helpston attended that we knew of. It was a packed room, a hot day, and a lot of work had gone into putting the material together in such a short space of time from when the Draft Local Plan was published. It’s important to ensure the information given is factual, backed up by trustworthy statistics, and is shared in a way which is easy to understand. Be assured that all councillors from all parishes have been busy reading and digesting the 182 pages of the plan and the associated 30 or so planning policy documents that it refers to.
Our job was to inform you of the Draft Plan, what it is, how it affects you, and how you can comment back to Peterborough City Council should you wish to. I hope we did our job!
Here is a copy of the slides and the speaker notes to go with them from the meeting. This is step 1 of the communication. In the next few days, we will also be sending out easy to read bulleted information on how you can comment, and helping you link those comments to the relevant policies in the Draft Plan. For maximum impact, and to avoid Peterborough City Council bundling duplicated statements up and counting them as only one comment, it’s important to put these points in your own words.
As stated at the meeting, the primary route for communications to you now will be through this newsletter, which you have subscribed to. If you know someone who wasn’t able to attend the meeting, but would be interested to read this and potentially comment, please either forward this to them, or encourage them to go to the Deeping Gate Parish Council website. If you wish to speak to a councillor, you can find the contact details of all 7 of our councillors on the website. If you wish to unsubscribe, just let us know.
