Councillor Philip Thompson (Chair)

Cllr Thompson has served on the Parish Council for 15 years, the last 2 as Chair.  Phil brings extensive experience as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and expert witness in court.  He’s passionate about cars and historic buildings.  He was a founding charter member of the Deepings Lions, and is an active member of Peterborough Rotary, having been president twice.  Phil loves the peace and rural environment of Deeping Gate and of course the beautiful riverside!

Councillor Martin Trude (Vice-Chair)

Cllr Trude joined the Deeping Gate Parish Council in 2024.  He has a wealth of experience in the IT industry, in project and change management.  He enjoys gardening, travelling, and is a keen DIYer!  He can often be spotted on one of his regular long walks with his lovely spaniel.  Martin loves the peaceful rural nature of Deeping Gate, and the surrounding area, and is passionate about maintaining the village’s identity.

Councillor Geoff Purllant

Cllr Purllant has served on the Parish Council for over 30 years, and been Chairman for some of that time. Along with his brother, he is also a local landowner and farmer, often seen checking out the fields by car, quad bike or tractor. Cllr Purllant is naturally passionate about wildlife and all things rural.

Councillor Louisa Griffiths

Cllr Griffiths joined the Parish Council in May 2024.  Louisa has lived in the Deepings since 1992, and in 2018 moved to Deeping Gate.  As a mum and local business owner, she wants to help support the community endeavours which she sees every day in the area.  Her skills in IT, analytics, report writing and planning knowledge have been of great value.  Louisa also brings the viewpoint of a young family to the Parish Council.

Councillor Richard Milligan

Cllr Richard Milligan joined the Parish Council in September 2024.  Originally from Newcastle and having lived in many areas of the UK and overseas in Holland, he was living in Hampton, South of Peterborough when he began to discover the beautiful villages around the city.  In 2020, Richard moved his family to Deeping Gate to fulfil his passion for living amongst English heritage and rural environments.  Richard was a primary school teacher for many years, and is now a full-time foster carer, as well as dad to 3 teenage children!  In his spare time, Richard works in his garden and can be seen around Deeping Gate giving nature a helping hand. He is also a keen supporter of his hometown club, Newcastle United.

Councillor Alexis Bennett

Cllr Bennett has lived in the Parish since 2021, with her partner Mark and 3 children.  Having moved around the UK all her life for work reasons,  she “has finally found somewhere that feels like home…somewhere to put roots down”.  Cllr Bennett joined the Parish Council in October 2024, wanting to give back to the community now the children are older, and her other half is helping at the local Rugby Club. As a Financial Adviser in a busy family practice in Deeping St James, her skill sets include numbers (obviously!), problem solving and a love of meeting and communicating with people.  In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, literature, music and is a keen runner, often seen around the Parish in brightly coloured lycra!  Her skills do not extend to cycling, so if you see her wobbling along the local roads, keep well clear!
