“What a most wonderful time of the year!”…Deeping Gate Christmas sing-a-long was a beautiful event. We were treated to perfect weather, and had a stunning sunset as our backdrop. It felt like the start of Christmas celebrations as around 50 residents of Deeping Gate gathered together to sing some carols and Christmas songs at the prettily lit up Christmas tree by the river, and in view of our stunning Grade II listed 17th century bridge. It would be nice to think many generations before us had sung in this area, both at Christmas, and for the January Wassailing, and that we were carrying on a tradition. It’s nice to make traditions of our own anyway, and it’s obvious many of you feel that way too, with so many of you coming out to join in. The mince pies were munched and the warmed mulled wine flowed, with plenty for everyone! And it was a nice diversion for the kids to be away from the Xbox and mobile phone for an hour, whether they were singing, or exploring the riverside! A big thank you to our faithful musicians without whom this event could not take place, and to our Parish Council Chairman Phil Thompson who puts lots of work in each year to make this gathering happen. Enjoy the photos, and a Merry Christmas to you all from Deeping Gate Parish Council.
