This autumn the Parish accepted an offer of free bulbs, made up of Remembrance crocuses (100), grape hyacinth (100) and bluebells (50), plus 25 cowslip plugs. In addition, Councillor Richard Milligan donated hundreds of his own home-grown forget-me-not and ox-eyed daisy plugs.
Richard dedicated time to plant many of the donated bulbs around the Parish, and another local resident, Graham Wright, kindly planted the remaining crocuses and bluebells. Richard planted his home-grown plants along Suttons Lane and big thanks also to Graham!
We would love to do more planting around Deeping Gate, maybe by the riverside and on the main roads, so we’re consulting with the Verges Committee to agree the best places around the Parish so that mowing systems are not disrupted, and we all get to enjoy the blooms for as long as possible, not to mention the bees and other insects! So if you are out and about in early 2025 and you spot some flowers that you hadn’t noticed last year, they may have been planted by Richard!
