Peterborough Local Plan Public Consultation – Alternative Site Option

In case anyone hasn’t seen this direct from Peterborough City Council (PCC) directly. They have included another potential site for the Draft Local Plan. Public comments are open until 5th March 11.59pm.

I am writing to inform you that Peterborough City Council is consulting on an alternative site option for the emerging Peterborough Local Plan: Land at West Wittering. This focused consultation follows feedback received during the Draft Local Plan consultation in spring 2025, particularly regarding the proposed site allocations. To ensure the Local Plan meets government housing requirements while also responding to the comments received, we are now seeking views on this alternative site.

The alternative site identified for consideration is Land at West Wittering, which is considered to have capacity for approximately 3,000 dwellings, with the potential for around 1,800 homes to be delivered within the plan period. No decision has yet been made about whether this site will be allocated; your comments will help determine whether it is appropriate for inclusion in the final Local Plan.

The consultation will take place between 23 January 2026 and 5 March 2026 at 11:59pm. Full details of the consultation, including how to view the site information and submit comments online, are available at:

This consultation forms part of the ongoing preparation of a new Local Plan, which will eventually replace the Peterborough Local Plan adopted in July 2019. It provides a further opportunity for you to comment on the emerging plan, and we encourage you to share your views.

Public consultation has already been carried out on the Issues and Options document (summer 2023) and on the Draft Local Plan (spring 2025). All comments received during those stages are being taken into consideration and can be viewed on our website.

Next Stages

All comments received will be taken into consideration and will help inform the Proposed Submission Local Plan, which is scheduled to be published later in 2026. Following the close of this consultation, all responses will be made available on the Council’s website at:
